Social Saturday Winners!!!

I'm sorry I've been absent these last couple of weeks. I never realized how much work moving, and moving during the holidays would be. Anyways, I need to pick 2 Social Saturday winners so here they are:

The first one is Patty who wrote " My favorite is when both sons are home for Christmas. They both live in different states and can't always be home at the same time. So this year I'll have both here. Fantastic."

The second is  Penny Hanaszak who wrote "Hi Sacha. What a neat idea. Love the name (Social Saturday......that's cool). I love all the colours but I think my favourite of the current and incolors right now is Early Espresso. It goes with everything, looks great on it's own and can add such a vintage feel to a card or layout. Thanks for asking! "

Ladies, please email me your address by Friday so I can mail you hand stamped card made by me! Thank you for playing along!

Social Saturday

I thought it would be fun to start a weekly post in which I can hear from you. I post all week about my thoughts, share my samples, and share with you what I have been working on but this is my opportunity to hear from you. So each week I will post a question and I want to hear your answer. To respond simply add a comment to the post before I randomly choose one comment on Monday. The persons who comment is chosen will receive a special handmade card made by me! Be sure to check back to see if your comment won!

I definitely know by now that my favorite color since the color renovation has to be cherry Cobbler. This is the color that I veer to each time I'm designing a card. I often must remind myself that there are 37 other colors to choose from! So what's your favorite color Stampin' Up! currently offers?

Hostess Appreciation Party

I came across these photos so I thought I would share them again. These were taken at my Hostess Appreciation Party this last July. I invited all of the prior years hostesses for an afternoon of fun, food, and new ideas. The theme was a tropical one so I made chicken kabobs with coconut rice and a giant fruit salad for desert. I decorated appropriately and had leis for everyone to wear. I share my swaps that I received at Convention, and shared a cool project that I learned at Convention as a make n take. I'm already thinking about what I would like to do next year. If you would like to come to this special event be sure to book a workshop with me before the end of June!

Well, the Holiday season is officially here! Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. I love the hustle and bustle and all the things going on. I spend more time with family and friends during the Holidays and I absolutely love to make Christmas cards to send to those who I can't be with! So what's your favorite part of the Holiday Season?

Define Your Life Wishes

Here is another swap that I made for a Monogram swap I participated in last month. A Monogram can be the first letter of someones name, or any word. I felt like most people would use letters of each others names so I did "W" for "Wish" to be different. These are the In Colors Pear Pizazz and Concord Crush which I think are stunning together. I finished the card by spraying the whole this with the Vanilla shimmer Smooch Spritz to make it sparkly. I think this may be one of my favorite embellishments as I've been using it on almost everything the last couple of weeks!

Elements Of Style Wedding

This is a card that I made for a wedding swap. It is very simple and elegant and I just love the idea of layering ribbon! It's kind of hard to tell, but some of the flowers are cut out and attached using dimensionals to give it a 3D effect. This is easily accomplished using the Paper Snips which make it easy to cut into small places. The colors could be interchanged to match the colors of a specific wedding, however black and white always look appropriate.

Starter Kit Questions

Questions about becoming a Demonstrator........
Good morning.  I have been fielding a lot of questions about becoming a Demonstrator, so I thought there might be others of you out there that had similar questions.  Let's go through a few of them.

1. What are the minimum sales requirements?
You only need to submit $300 in sales per quarter or $100 per month less your 20% discount. Submit your sales in any increment you wish and still receive your 20 % discount and commission.

2. What if I want to do this as a hobby and not necessarily a business?
Stampin’ Up! supports all demonstrators, no matter their goals or the level at which they choose to run their business. If you choose not to hold workshops, you can simply place your own orders and/or collect orders from family and
friends to equal the $300 quarterly sales minimum.

3. Can I be my own hostess?
Yes, you can be your own hostess anytime you want. Invite your family and friends into your home and have a workshop, or place your own order equalling $150 or higher to receive these benefits.

4. Explain to me how the 30% Discount on my first  order works?
Once you sign up, you have 45 days from that date to place a $150 or higher order and receive a 30% discount on the entire order (plus hostess benefits).  If you need a small amount of supplies before you are ready to place this order, you can order then without forfieting this Special Offer.

5. How much does it cost to get started as a demonstrator?
The Starter Kit is only normally $175.00, and it includes everything you will need to get your business up and running, including stamp sets, ink, paper, catalogs, order forms, a training video, and more ($310 value). You have your choice between the Standar Starter Kit
or the My Digital Studio Starter Kit, and if you’re interested in scrapbooking, you can also select the Stampin’ Memories Add-On for an additional $50 ($80 value).
UNTIL NOVEMBER 30th, both of these kits are available for $87.50!
FREE SHIPPING ON THIS STARTER KIT TOO

6. How can I make money as a demonstrator?
You can earn money in three ways: instant income (20 percent of each order), monthly volume rebates (5–20 percent of total sales), and monthly downline override commissions (2–6 percent of your recruits’ sales).

7. Do I have to recruit other demonstrators?
No, if you were to recruit demonstrators, you would be paid override commissions on your downline’s sales, but this is a perk, not a requirement.

8. Where will I get project ideas for my workshops? What kind of training can I expect?
Stampin’ Up! provides dozens of training resources filled with project ideas and tips to help you run every aspect of your business, including a monthly publication called Stampin’ Success, Demonstrator Support agents, a demonstrator only web site, hundreds of samples, annual and seasonal catalogs, a training DVD, the Demonstrator Manual, and a Product Guide.
AND - if you join under me, you become a member of my group. We have special Demonstrator only meetings in which I help your with your business, share new techniques, and where you'll get great ideas from other demonstrators to further assist you in your stamping craft - or growing your business.

9. What if I decide that I don’t like it once I’ve started? Will I be penalized if I quit?
You may choose to stop at anytime, and you will not be penalized. You simply stop placing orders. No - you do not have to return your starter kit - it is yours to keep and enjoy!
Additional Perks:
  • When the new Idea Book and Catalog comes out, you receive a FREE copy, AND you are allowed to BUY, one Level 2 and one Level 3 Hostess Set.
  • You get ALL the mini catalogs well before customers do and you get a pre-order one month in advance of the catalog going live. (this is an excellent opportunity to get your classes designed and ready for when the catalog goes live - if you decide to be a Business Builder Demonstrator - or as a Hobby Demonstrator - you get to create with the stamp sets before anyone else even gets to buy them).
  • Periodically Stampin Up will offer additional discounts and incentives to their demonstrators such as discounts on bundled packages, discounts on new stamp releases, etc.
  • You Get to attend Local Regional Events in your area.
  • You get to attend CONVENTION
  • You get almost daily updates on the Demonstrator Homepage of Everything going on in the Stampin Up world.

I know I'm a little behind on my 12 weeks of Christmas, but I am going to get you caught up today! My first project was a swap I made for my stamp club. I wanted to show how you can use the fabric on a card. This card is so simple yet very elegant. I simply ripped strips from the fabric and tied those around the strips of cardstock. I tied a knot and added a button using hemp twine.

This years Holiday Mini Catalog is absolutely wonderful! There are so many fabulous stamp sets and embellishments offered at a time of year that we probably all make the most cards! I think my favorite item from the Holiday Mini Catalog would have to be the Glass Glitter. I pray and hope that this gets carried over to the new catalog in July, or at least the next Occasions Mini Catalog that will be out in January. What's your favorite item in the current Holiday Mini Catalog, be it a stamp set, embellishment, or Designer Series Paper?

True Friend from a True Friend

Today I thought I would share a card I received from a dear friend of mine, Pam. She is the one who took me to my first stamp club meeting and one who I have spent many nights stamping with! She doesn't live close to me anymore so we have become pen pals and I am always anxious to get one of her cards because she is such a talented stamper. This card is a try fold card with a front panel that tucks in under the flower on the right. I can't wait for the next one, but till then enjoy this one!

12 Weeks of Christmas - Week 4

This week I thought I would share one of the cards we will be making for my Stamp A Stack this weekend. For as long as I have been a demonstrator the Lovely As A Tree stamp set has always been in the catalog (5 years).  I think this is a favorite for everyone! I have to apologize as the "be merry" stamp is retired, however it just completed the card perfectly and I didn't have anything else that look quite as good. To create the backdrop image I created a square template and sponged with white craft ink inside. I also stamped the row of trees in white craft ink before moving the template so that it would appear only in the same square. Once this was dry I stamped the tall pine tree using the Garden Green & Chocolate Chip Markers. I stamped the sentiment (you could stamp any occasion), punched the circle and attached to top. I added the the jumbo eyelet using the Crop-A-Dile and tied a piece of the Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding through the eyelet. Then I assembled the rest of the layers to the card. Simple yet beautiful and completely transformable for any occasion!

Halloween Cupcake Holder

Here is another project we made in my Big Shot Club last week. You can make these to put cupcakes in, however I wanted my guest to be able to take something home with them (the cupcakes would not have made it!) so we filled the middle with a cupcake wrapper and in it we put a small piece of florist foam and some shreds to hide it. This is very simply made using the Perfect Setting Bigz XL Die with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and Designer Series Paper. Stampin' Up! has many different assortment of  Designer Series Paper so you could make these for almost any occasion. One package of DSP will make approximately 24 cupcake covers. The topper is made using the Batty For You stamp set, punches, dimensionals and a tooth pick. There are two layers of the scallop circle adhered together with the toothpick in the middle so that you don't see it.

Well Wishes with the Big Shot

Here is one of the cards we made last week in my Big Shot Club. It's a fairly simple card using one the the textured plates with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine for the background. The stamp is from the Wellness Wishes stamp set, so adorable for someone who's under the weather. I stamped it in black StazOn and then water colored the image with ink and the Aqua Painter. To make the white dog "pop" I added color all around the white image to make it stand out. This is something I learned at convention two years ago when I was choosen by the "You Crew" to do a make n' take with Brent Steel from Stampin' Up! It was great because he showed us how to water color and build on the colors and because of this I love this technique more than ever. If this is something you would like to learn I would love to share it with you, contact me today to learn how.

Christmas is my favorite time of year and I have always loved sending out Christmas cards. I especially love that now that I stamp my own cards I can send warm wishes for the holiday along with a hand made gift to all my loved ones! And I absolutely love all the Christmas sets that Stampin' Up! has to offer. But if I had to choose just one, and this is so hard, I think I would have to choose Greeting Card Kids. I wasn't sold on this set at first, but after all of the samples I have seen made with this set I have fallen in love with it. It's probably because I love the vintage look and it is so easily achieved when this set it used. But enough about me, whats your favorite Christmas stamp set?

12 Weeks of Christmas - Week 3

This is the card that we made at our stamp club this last weekend. It's not your average Christmas card and I must admit that I CASED this card from Renee Fenlason who sent me a similar card as part of a Vintage Christmas Card swap that I hosted. I thought this would be the perfect card to showcase to my club as I knew that most of them had purchased this set and I wanted to encourage them to get creative, especially if they have limited supplies. I won't go into every step to make this card, but I will give the general details of it. Every layer is sponged around the edges including the designer series paper. We used the markers to color the stamp and stamped it on Very Vanilla card stock. We then ran it through the Big shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. To make it look aged I used the Tea Stain ink spot from the distressing kit and sponged this to make the white look aged. And last but not least we added the Vintage Brad for the finishing touch, and spitzed the entire card with gold Glow Smooch Spritz. I  think the key to this card and all the little details such as the sponging, it just gives it that vintage look which I absolutely love!
